Laboratory Test Specifications

Reinforcement Steel (TMT) Testing

Tensile strength, 0.2% proof yield stress, elongation percentage, bend/re-bend test, and mass per meter evaluation.

Governing Testing Standards:IS 1786IS 1608IS 1599ASTM A615

Service Overview & Scope

ATLES operates high-precision Universal Testing Machines (UTM) to verify mechanical properties and mass tolerances of Thermo-Mechanically Treated (TMT) steel bars.

Engineering Purpose

To confirm that steel reinforcement complies with design yield strength, ductility, and nominal weight specifications.

Key Civil Engineering Applications

Seismic-Resistant Building Reinforcement
Pre-stressed & Post-tensioned Concrete Elements
Bridge Pier & Abutment Steel Cage Assurance
Industrial Structure Rebar Audit

Testing Methodology & Field Execution

1

Measurement of unit weight (mass per meter) against IS weight tolerances.

2

Tensile testing on Universal Testing Machine to determine Yield Stress (Fy), Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS), and Elongation %.

3

Bend and Re-bend testing to check for micro-cracking along outer ribs.

4

Chemical testing for Carbon, Sulfur, Phosphorus, and Carbon Equivalent (on request).

Laboratory & Field Equipment

Computerized Universal Testing Machine (1000 kN capacity)
Electronic Extensometer
Mandrel Bend Testing Apparatus
Digital Calipers & Precision Balance

Engineering Significance

Guarantees ductility and load resistance under gravity and seismic loadings.

Deliverable Reports & Certificates

  • UTM Stress-Strain Curve & Tensile Test Certificate
  • Yield Stress, UTS/YS Ratio, and Ductility Report
  • Mass Per Meter Compliance Certificate
